SUMMARY:Rethinking Capitalism for the Regenerative Economy

After decades in which shareholder primacy was treated as economic law rather than ideological choice\, a growing chorus of voices from within the financial establishment is acknowledging what impact entrepreneurs have long understood: the extractive model is failing on its own terms. Rising inequality\, climate disruption\, the hollowing out of community—these are not isolated policy challenges but interconnected symptoms of a system that externalizes costs and concentrates power. The question is no longer whether the current economic paradigm must change\, but whether reform from within is sufficient—or whether genuine transformation requires the deeper structural reimagining that the regenerative economy represents. \nIn this Luminarias webinar and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes award-winning journalist and author Elizabeth MacBride for a wide-ranging exploration of these questions. MacBride’s work—spanning Forbes\, The Atlantic\, CNBC\, and BBC\, and most recently the USA Today bestselling book Capital Evolution: The New American Economy (co-authored with venture capitalist Seth Levine)—has consistently investigated the gap between economic narratives and economic reality: the distance between what institutions say they value and what their structures actually produce. Her concept of “Dynamic Capitalism” offers a framework for understanding the emerging post-neoliberal landscape that is both intellectually serious and provocatively different from the regenerative vision our community is building. \nThe conversation will move across the most pressing questions facing the impact economy today: whether climate can be addressed in isolation or only as part of systemic transformation\, how ownership structures must evolve to distribute rather than concentrate power\, what distinguishes genuine accountability from sophisticated rebranding\, and what it actually takes to move from extraction to regeneration. This is an opportunity for our global community of impact entrepreneurs\, investors\, and field-builders to engage with a sharp\, well-informed voice from the mainstream economic reform conversation—and to test where the common ground lies and where the real disagreements begin. \nFeatured Guest\nElizabeth MacBrideAward-winning Journalist & Author Elizabeth MacBride is a journalist\, author\, and entrepreneur whose reporting and commentary on finance\, innovation\, and global economic change have reached millions of readers worldwide.  \nShe is the co-author of three books\, including the national bestseller Capital Evolution\, which examines the future of capitalism and lays out principles for a new\, more equitable future: Dynamic Capitalism. Her first book was The New Builders (Wiley\, 2021)\, which reshaped how policymakers understand entrepreneurship in America and informed $250B in U.S. pandemic-era aid; The Little Book of Robo Investing (Wiley\, 2024)\, which draws on her experience at Wealthfront to explain how technology is transforming personal finance. \nHer work has long advocated for people who are underrepresented in the global economy because of structural barriers and social norms. \nAs a reporter and editor\, Elizabeth has broken stories at the intersection of finance\, technology\, and policy for outlets including The New York Times\, Quartz\, Forbes\, MIT Tech Review\, the Atlantic\, and the BBC. She has reported from everywhere\, from the Arkansas Delta and the panhandle of Idaho to Silicon Valley and Wall Street\, as well as from conflict and post-conflict zones\, including Kenya\, Cambodia\, the West Bank\, and Gaza. Most recently\, she has focused on narrative change and information disorder\, examining how these forces shape markets\, democracy\, and the future of work. A graduate of Johns Hopkins SAIS\, she is a single mom of two daughters and lives in Alexandria\, Virgina. \nHost\nLaurie Lane-ZuckerLaurie Lane-Zucker is Founder and CEO of Impact Entrepreneur\, PBC\, an impact economy business that hosts the Impact Entrepreneur Network — a large\, global network of “systems-minded” entrepreneurs\, investors\, and scholars of social and environmental innovation — and editor and publisher of Impact Entrepreneur\, a digital magazine covering the emerging Impact Economy. As co-founder and longtime CEO of Seventh Generation\, Hollender didn't just build one of America's most recognizable natural products brands; he helped pioneer an entirely new paradigm for what a company could be: radically transparent\, culturally intentional\, employee-owned\, and mission-driven to its core. Then the board fired him. And then Unilever bought the company. And the lessons embedded in that full arc — from scrappy Vermont startup to $700 million acquisition\, from visionary founder to ousted CEO to vindicated board member — constitute one of the most candid and revealing case studies in the history of responsible business. \nIn this Luminarias fireside chat\, Impact Entrepreneur's Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes Jeffrey Hollender\, whose new book\, Built for a Better World: How Seventh Generation Pioneered a Movement That Changed the Purpose of Business\, tells the full story for the first time. Drawing on four decades of impact entrepreneurship — and an unflinching willingness to examine his own failures alongside his achievements — Hollender offers our practitioner community a rare blend of operational wisdom\, governance cautionary tales\, and a provocative critique of where the sustainability movement has gone wrong. \nJoin us for a candid\, deeply personal conversation with one of the architects of the responsible business movement — a dialogue that promises to be as instructive for the next generation of impact entrepreneurs as the forty-year journey that made it possible. \n\nFeatured Guest\nJeffrey HollenderJeffrey Hollender is the co-founder and former CEO of Seventh Generation\, which he built into a leading natural products brand known for its authenticity\, transparency\, and progressive business practices. Seventh Generation was sold to Unilever in 2016; Hollender remains on the Board of Directors. He is also the founder and former CEO of Sustain Natural\, which developed and marketed sustainable feminine care products. A former Board Chair of Greenpeace US and co-founder of the American Sustainable Business Network\, Hollender currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of sustainability and social entrepreneurship and Executive in Residence at NYU's Stern Business School\, and as a mentor through SKU and Unreasonable. He serves on the boards of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility\, Aquavitea\, Vermont Cheese Products\, and the Sustainability Advisory Board at Morgan Stanley. He is the author of seven previous books\, including The Responsibility Revolution and Planet Home. His latest\, Built for a Better World (Fast Company Books)\, publishes March 26\, 2026. SUMMARY:Building Trust in the Age of AI: Safeguarding the Impact Economy

As algorithms shape decisions in finance\, healthcare\, hiring\, and development\, biases and unintended harms threaten to undermine social progress. This session will explore cutting-edge approaches to ethical AI and impact measurement: embedding fairness in design\, aligning AI with SDGs\, and ensuring human oversight in high-stakes contexts. Together we will ask: How do we govern AI at scale so that it advances equity\, justice\, and systemic well-being rather than eroding them? \nAt a moment when AI adoption is accelerating faster than regulation\, the stakes could not be higher. Governments are scrambling to write rules\, companies are racing to integrate AI into core operations\, and civil society is calling for safeguards before trust is irreparably broken. For impact investors\, entrepreneurs\, and changemakers\, the question is not whether AI will transform markets and societies — but whether it will do so in ways consistent with human dignity and planetary sustainability. This conversation will surface the tensions\, opportunities\, and bold ideas needed to ensure that AI becomes a tool for systemic good rather than systemic harm. \nFeatured Guest\nB CavelloB Cavello is a technology and facilitation expert who is passionate about creating social change by empowering everyone to participate in technological and social governance. From a sobering SDG scoreboard — with less than one fifth of targets on track — to mounting evidence of climate stress and democratic backsliding\, the pattern is clear: our bottleneck is not capital availability but capital architecture\, allocation\, and accountability. In this timely Luminarias session\, we move past optics and acronyms to examine how impact capital actually gets mobilized and deployed where the mainstream is ill equipped to assess real risks or strengthen ecosystems. \nOur featured guest\, Dr. Gillian Marcelle\, argues that progress stalls when we ignore three realities: structural bottlenecks\, cognitive and organizational blind spots\, and the need for reimagined blended finance that braids financial and non-financial capital — knowledge\, networks\, policy\, and cultural and social capital — to unlock durable change. As ESG and DEI face political headwinds in the United States and “impact” rhetoric risks drifting into complacency\, this conversation offers an imaginative and challenging approach to investing that begins with root causes and includes recommendations for getting capital unstuck — and for establishing the trust and execution capacity the global impact economy requires. \nTopics to be covered \n\nBottlenecks\, blind spots\, blended finance — an original framework for moving capital from promise to performance.\nPlace-based architectures — designing country and regional platforms that de-risk pipeline\, reduce transaction costs\, and build local execution capacity.\nBraiding financial and non-financial capital — aligning policy\, knowledge\, networks\, and culture with investment flows.\nGovernance and accountability — approaches to ground accountability though addressing frameworks and practices that shift power\, expand access\, and accelerate SDG-aligned outcomes.\nOperating amid headwinds — maintaining mission integrity as ESG and DEI come under attack in the United States\, and avoiding impact-washing.\nOverlooked deal sources — Diaspora capital\, community wealth vehicles\, trapped capital in insurance companies\, pension funds and SWFs\, and public-interest tech as pipelines for investable opportunities.\n\nFeatured Guest\nGillian MarcelleGillian Marcelle\, PhD leads Resilience Capital Ventures LLC (RCV)\, a boutique capital advisory practice specializing in blended finance. Dr Marcelle developed the Triple B Framework to improve flows and allocation of capital in its multiple forms; this provides a platform for engaging in the finance and investment world\, where her contributions and perspectives on diversity\, inclusion\, accountability\, and alignment with the SDGs are becoming influential. Dr Marcelle was recently included in the 2025 Black Women Give Back List\, recognizing 10 extraordinary philanthropic leaders across the global Black diaspora. In 2024 she earned inclusion in the fourth annual Forbes Fifty Over Fifty: Investment list. \nHer decades long track record includes attracting investment and structuring deals. Her sectors of focus are telecoms\, fintech\, renewable energy\, regenerative agriculture and health systems. Her specialty is the design and implementation of blended finance strategies that involve partnerships\, ecosystem strengthening and architectures to facilitate transformational change. Dr Marcelle includes among her clients and partners: The Bahamas; Open Society Foundations; MPC Energy Solutions\, PolicyLink\, Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT)\, AfricaBio and the Clinton Foundation. The sudden dismantling of USAID is not an isolated event; it reflects a broader global trend as countries including the U.K.\, Belgium\, the Netherlands\, France\, Germany\, Sweden\, and Switzerland significantly reduce overseas development assistance. These moves create alarming gaps in funding for programs addressing poverty\, malnutrition\, disease\, and climate resilience\, fundamentally reshaping how these critical social and environmental issues are tackled. \nIn this rapidly evolving landscape\, impact investors\, philanthropies\, and entrepreneurs stand at a critical juncture\, poised to fill emergent gaps and sustain momentum in essential development initiatives. While impact investing cannot entirely replace traditional aid\, it can play a crucial role in creating quality jobs\, enhancing food security\, improving healthcare access\, and strengthening climate resilience. Join us for a thought-provoking conversation between Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker and renowned impact investment leader Elizabeth Boggs Davidsen\, CEO of GSG Impact\, as they explore the urgent responsibilities and opportunities for impact investing amid these profound changes. \nFeatured Guest\nElizabeth Boggs DavidsonElizabeth Boggs Davidsen is CEO of GSG Impact. Most business leaders and investors still draw a strict line between philanthropic endeavors and traditional profit-driven investment. But in making this false separation\, they fail to see how philanthropy plays a unique role in de-risking investments in new and unproven markets and attracting other forms of financing to take on the world’s trillion-dollar challenges. \nDrawing on decades of experience advising and growing organizations across the philanthropy and sustainable finance ecosystem\, Alix Lebec and Julia Wilkinson will share how a portfolio approach to impact allows for risk mitigation; synergies between different impact projects and asset classes; and the scalability of successful impact models. \nFeatured Guests\nAlix LebecFor over 20 years\, Alix Lebec has been advising and growing organizations across the philanthropy and sustainable finance ecosystem. As a member of the founding and executive leadership team at WaterEquity — alongside co-founders Gary White and Matt Damon — Alix spent the past decade building this high-performing global asset manager that invests in water\, women\, and sanitation in emerging markets. She previously worked at the World Bank in Paris and Southeast Asia\, followed by the Clinton Global Initiative and Water.org — where she mobilized $260 million in capital and built winning teams. \nIn 2020\, Alix launched Lebec Consulting to support philanthropists\, investors\, and entrepreneurs worldwide and shape a paradigm shift in our global financial ecosystem. She works with traditional\, institutional\, and impact investors and entrepreneurs across the globe to reduce risk\, multiply impact\, and grow a resilient and sustainable global economy. Yet\, early-stage climate tech ventures face significant challenges in attracting the capital necessary to bring their innovative solutions to market. This gap represents not only a market failure but also a missed opportunity to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future. \nIn 2021\, Jane Woodward\, Managing Partner of WovenEarth Ventures\, with over three decades of experience in teaching at Stanford and investing in energy transition and decarbonization\, identified this critical challenge. She recognized that the market for US early-stage climate tech was poorly understood and that the timing was ripe for intervention. Many investors were understandably hesitant to invest in early stage\, given the small\, young\, and technical nature of most funds in a rapidly evolving and complex market. Jane's insights led to the creation of WovenEarth\, a curated and highly diverse fund of funds designed to address these challenges. \nDuring this live fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur's Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes Jane Woodward to discuss the difficulties faced by early-stage climate tech companies in attracting capital. They will explore examples of fund managers and co-investments within WovenEarth's portfolio\, Jane's insights about the urgency of the climate situation\, and the broader opportunities that impact entrepreneurs and their climate tech solutions offer to help mitigate this extremely challenging situation. \nJoin us for an enlightening conversation that goes beyond investment strategies to delve into the heart of the climate challenge and the innovative solutions that hold the promise of a sustainable future. \nFeatured Guest\nJane WoodwardJane Woodward’s four-decade career has been focused on decarbonizing energy and earth systems as an investor and educator. Jane is Managing Partner at WovenEarth Ventures\, a Founding Partner at MAP Energy\, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University where she has taught classes on energy and environment since 1991. Jane is an advisor and director for several energy transition companies and funds (Stem\, Fervo\, Project Canary\, Ambient Fuels\, Lilac\, Sandbrook). In 2016\, Jane created The Foster Museum\, a 14\,000-square-foot museum in Palo Alto\, to share artist-explorer Tony Foster’s powerful exhibitions of watercolor journeys with an intention to inspire connection to the natural world. Climate change will exacerbate the water crisis\, particularly for those living in poverty\, as increased storms\, floods\, and droughts damage infrastructure and increase water stress. While infrastructure investments have grown by 350% in the last decade\, only 1.9% of commercial financing went toward water and sanitation infrastructure specifically.     \nIn this Luminarias Series webinar\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes WaterEquity President Paul O’Connell and Director of Impact & ESG Genevieve Edens for a fireside chat to discuss the intricate interplay between financing climate-resilient infrastructure projects and empowering communities with equitable water and sanitation solutions.  \nFeatured Guest\nPaul O'Connell\n\n\nPaul O’Connell oversees and manages WaterEquity’s day-to-day activities. These key players act as intermediaries between capital providers (allocators) and fund managers (investors). However\, the business models of most gatekeepers present challenges in embracing new ideas and assessing impact opportunities. For much of the past decade\, catalytic capital has arguably served as the “R&D” arm for the broader field\, helping to seed innovative impact investing market developments. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and confluence of global crises in 2020\, catalytic capital providers pivoted to flow capital to response\, recovery\, and resiliency interventions. Now in 2023\, amid a challenging\, dynamic economic and political backdrop\, what will be the ideal role of catalytic capital going forward? How can catalytic capital most effectively support early-stage impact ventures and the impact economy as a whole? \nJoin Impact Entrepreneur for a Luminarias Series Webinar to hear from field leaders on the following topics: \n\nBest practices and taking stock — what has worked well and what needs to evolve in how catalytic capital is deployed and leveraged\nDoubling down on policy progress - opportunities for the private sector to invest alongside government funds for sustainable infrastructure\, climate solutions and economic resiliency\nWidening the tent — bringing catalytic capital products to wealth management\n\nFeatured Guests\nJohn BalbachJohn Balbach is Director of Impact Investments at MacArthur Foundation. A Florida law passed in 2022\, for example\, currently prevents the state’s pension funds managers from considering ESG criteria. A host of politicians\, including former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Rick Desantis have publicly trolled ESG as “woke capitalism.” \nDespite the attacks\, demand for ESG investing has become a dominant force that markets cannot ignore. In their annual Report on US Sustainable Investing Trends\, the Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investing\, known as US SIF\, calculated sustainable investment assets under management to be $8.4 trillion in 2022. Growing numbers of investors are seeking sustainable investment opportunities that integrate environmental\, social\, and governance factors\, despite the efforts of divisive trolls who often seem to be attacking ESG for their own political gain. \nStephanie Cohn Rupp\, a Board Director at US SIF who has spent the last two decades of her career focused on economic development\, global Impact\, and ESG investing\, thinks that these attacks demonstrate a fundamental misunderstanding of ESG and ignorance of the potential risks for investors and politicians who dismiss it. Cohn Rupp has been working to get out the message that ESG is not an ideology\, it is a lens applied to investment due diligence that integrates real world impacts. \nIn this live fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes Stephanie Cohn Rupp\, CEO of Veris Wealth Partners – a wealth management firm founded with a 100% focus on impact and ESG investing – for a discussion about the realities of ESG and how each of us can help defend ESG from the trolls. \nFeatured Guest\nStephanie Cohn RuppStephanie Cohn Rupp is a Partner and Chief Executive Officer with more than 20 years of global impact investing experience. During her career\, Stephanie has focused on building scalable\, profitable\, sustainable businesses. Based in Denver\, she helps lead the firm’s impact wealth management growth strategies\, financial performance and client experience. \nBefore joining Veris\, Stephanie was Managing Director and Partner\, Head of Impact Investing\, at Tiedemann Advisors\, where she served clients as a wealth advisor and led the development of the impact investing platform and impact client experience. Prior to that\, she was CEO of Toniic\, a global community of impact investors which she grew tenfold. Previously\, Stephanie held globally focused investment roles at Omidyar Network\, PlaNet Finance\, UBS\, The World Bank and building greenfield micro-finance institutions financed by USAID. \nStephanie is a Board Director of the US Sustainable Investment Forum\, a member of the ImpactAssets 50 Review Committee and an advisory board member to Paris-based Investisseurs et Partenaires’ investment fund for Education in Africa. \nShe earned a Master of Public Administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is a French and U.S. binational and co-authored The ImpactAssets Handbook in 2017 with Jed Emerson. That means circulating investment dollars locally\, transforming the governance structures that allocate capital so people most affected have the most say\, and designing investment approaches that make wise use of blended capital — integrating debt\, equity and grantmaking. This requires a whole systems approach to place-based change\, engaging all the stakeholders – entrepreneurs\, investors\, philanthropy\, anchor institutions\, policymakers\, professional service providers and community members–in building sustainable\, resilient\, and inclusive local economies.  \nIt also requires a willingness on the part of investors and philanthropists to challenge their current understanding of risk and return. In conventional finance\, investors try to transmute risk into return. Practitioners of solidarity finance redefine risk and transmute it into impact and power. \nIn this live fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes Deborah Frieze\, founder and president of Boston Impact Initiative and a Professor of the Practice at Tufts University’s Department of Urban Environmental Policy and Planning\, for a discussion of how to deploy integrated capital to build community wealth and power. \nFeatured Guest\nDeborah FriezeDeborah Frieze is a professor\, author\, entrepreneur and activist. She teaches impact investing at Tufts University’s Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning. In 2013\, she founded the Boston Impact Initiative\, an impact investing fund working to close the racial wealth divide in Eastern Massachusetts. The fund takes an integrated capital approach\, combining investing\, lending and giving to build a resilient and inclusive local economy. Deborah is co-author (with Margaret Wheatley) of Walk Out Walk On\, an award-winning book that profiles pioneering leaders who walked out of organizations failing to contribute to the common good—and walked on to build resilient communities. She is also founder of the Old Oak Dojo\, an urban learning center in Boston\, MA. Impact investors\, just like conventional investors\, depend on the work of researchers\, advisors\, wealth managers\, entrepreneurs\, industry experts\, and others to make well-informed\, successful investments. Moving from a single bottom line to triple bottom line set of priorities\, however\, requires embracing additional complexities and utilizing creative problem-solving\, especially around such challenges as impact measurement. \nSuccessfully growing early-stage impact enterprises necessitates a similar level of comfort with complexity and creative experimentation. Strategic pivots and unorthodox funding strategies are often the norm for impact entrepreneurs and their businesses. \nIn this live fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes one of the founding voices of the impact investing movement\, Jim Sorenson\, founder of the Sorenson Impact Group\, for a far-ranging conversation about impact investing\, impact entrepreneurship\, and impact field-building. \nFeatured Guest\nJim SorensonJim Sorenson is a global impact leader\, and one of the founding voices in the impact investment movement. Since the start of his career\, first as an entrepreneur and then as an investor\, Jim has focused on mission-driven investments that prioritize profit and purpose. \nThe son of a self-made billionaire and entrepreneur\, Jim grew up surrounded by innovation and business. When it came time to launch his own career Jim went off on his own before returning to the family business. In 2002\, he was about to fundraise for one of those businesses\, Sorenson Media\, when the dot.com bust derailed those plans\, forcing Jim and his team back to the drawing board. \nOut of that crisis Sorenson Communications was born\, a technology business that provides communications services for the deaf community. Sorenson Communications soon became the world’s largest employer of the deaf. In 2005\, the business was spun out and sold in what was the largest private equity deal in Utah to date. \nHis experience with Sorenson Communications opened Jim’s eyes to the real meaning of profit and purpose. Deaf educators estimate that the services provided by Sorenson Communications have increased employment for the hearing-impaired fourfold. \nIn June\, Jim launched Sorenson Impact Group (SIG) as a multi-faceted center for impact investing\, to advance the field of impact investing\, drive capital to impact investing\, institutionalize\, and scale the sector. At the Sorenson Impact summit\, also in June\, SIG announced that it was taking over the operations of SOCAP\, the cornerstone impact investing conference\, now in its 15th year. \nJim strongly believes that to solve the biggest challenges facing our society the impact ecosystem must align through a more holistic approach to impact investing\, with a focus on actionable results at scale. Yet the decision we face is not to chart the perfect way forward; it is simply to embark on the journey. In her latest book\, Manifesto for a Moral Revolution\, Jacqueline Novogratz\, founder and CEO of Acumen\, outlines concrete practices we can all use to jumpstart our own impact on the world. Change is possible\, she argues\, and because it’s possible\, it’s up to each of us to be part of that change.  \nThe critical ingredient for large-scale\, sustainable progress lies in moral imagination — which starts by viewing other people’s problems as if they were your own\, and discerning how to solve those problems. It requires both the audacity to see where you want to go\, and the humility to realize the scale of what we’re facing. In this intimate conversation and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes Jacqueline Novogratz\, who will share her story of quitting her banking job to start a business in Rwanda\, which ultimately led to founding Acumen 21 years ago and forging the path for a now-thriving impact investing industry. She’ll explain the role of patient capital in building markets and solving the problems of poverty\, and the role that listening\, immersion\, and transcending our tendencies toward binary thinking plays in building dignity for all. \nFeatured Guest\nJacqueline NovogratzJacqueline Novogratz is the Founder and CEO of Acumen\, and a recognized leader and innovator in the social impact sector. Her work began in 1986 when she quit her job on Wall Street to co-found Rwanda’s first microfinance institution\, Duterimbere; the experience inspired her to write the bestselling book The Blue Sweater: Bridging the Gap Between Rich and Poor\, and\, in 2001\, launch Acumen. \nA pioneer of impact investing\, Acumen has invested more than $146 million of patient capital into 151 companies affecting the lives of nearly 400 million people across Africa\, Latin America\, South Asia and the United States in the areas of clean energy\, agriculture\, healthcare\, and education.  Acumen also has launched four for-profit funds\, including KawiSafi\, a nearly $70 million impact fund focused on off-grid solar energy in East Africa\, and ARAF\, a first-of-its-kind $58 million fund focused on helping smallholder farmers mitigate the impacts of climate change. \nHer second book\, Manifesto for a Moral Revolution: Practices to Build a Better World\, was named one of the top 10 social entrepreneurship books of all time. According to the United Nations\, 1.5 billion people globally live with disabilities\, which is almost 20 percent of the world’s population. Nearly two-thirds of the world’s working-age persons with disabilities (PWD) are not employed. All in all\, it is estimated that the global GDP loses approximately $1.9 trillion annually due to exclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace. \nThe investment case for investing in innovation at the nexus of disability and tech could not be stronger\, yet the disability market is massively underserved and undercapitalized. There are more than 2.5 billion people who would benefit from assistive products. People with disabilities alongside their friends and family control over $13 trillion in global disposable income. The US assistive tech market will be valued at $26 billion by 2024. The global disability community is expected to increase from 1.5 billion people to 3.5 billion by 2050 as populations age and the rate of non-communicable diseases rise. \nEnable Ventures is the first impact venture fund dedicated to closing the disability wealth gap while achieving competitive\, market-rate returns. It is supported by SmartJob\, a platform to attract disability deal flow\, and support and build the disability innovation ecosystem. Enable Ventures is part of the Sorenson Impact Platform of Funds. \nIn this live fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes founder and CEO of Enable Ventures\, Gina Kline\, for an in-depth discussion on how to close the disability gap by investing in some of today’s most exciting innovations at the intersection of disability and tech\, and the potential for these innovations to improve all of our lives. \nFeatured Guest\nGina KlineRegina “Gina” Kline is an investor\, entrepreneur\, civil rights lawyer\, and thought leader dedicated to building the future of work by advancing the rights and interests of people with disabilities as innovators\, workers\, business owners\, and consumers.
