Over time\, commercial interest in it will wane\, reducing the available capital\, and thus creating a vicious cycle that makes it harder for local entrepreneurs to build businesses and create prosperity. Therefore\, the highest priority for emerging markets impact investors must be to improve returns.” \nIn contrast\, impact investor and author (Adventure Finance) Aunnie Patton Power\, in an Impact Entrepreneur webinar\, asserts that “private equity is not correct for 99% of impact enterprises”\, in part due to the gulf separating the expectations between equity investors and impact enterprises. She proposes a range of more attractive\, patient\, and\, at times\, “concessionary” options\, including\, in a recent IE Magazine article\, Revenue-based Financing. \nHow should one balance these two visions? Or are they incompatible with each other? If so\, what does it mean for the future of impact investing and the funding of impact enterprises? In this Impact Entrepreneur live fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes IE Magazine authors Clemens Feil and Aunnie Patton Power to discuss their contrasting perspectives on impact investing and financing impact enterprises. \nFeatured Guests\nClemens FeilClemens Feil is a growth equity investment professional at the largest global development finance institution focused on the private sector in developing countries. SUMMARY:Law and the Impact Economy
DESCRIPTION:LuminariasWednesday\, December 1\, 20211:30 PM - 2:45 PM\n\n	\n\n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n	Tickets\n\n \n	\n	\n The numbers below include tickets for this event already in your cart. Policies and laws can be either a help or hindrance in moving the economy toward authentic sustainability and supporting businesses that have measurable social and/or environmental aims built into their DNA. \nLawyers play a critical role in determining how the necessary paradigm shift is done\, financed\, and regulated\, and how the ecosystem functions. For example\, the foundational notions of stakeholder capitalism and circular economy need not only clarifying principles and effective measures but also a bulletproof set of mechanisms for them to not only be usefully implemented but truly transformational. \nIn practice\, when the triple bottom line enters seriously into the conversation\, many conventional assumptions and methodologies break\, and new models and instruments need to be crafted. Lawyers are needed to navigate this increasingly complex geography — testing their values\, legal acumen\, and creativity. \nIn this live fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes distinguished attorney Chintan Panchal\, who has co-created and facilitated the launch of numerous scalable and investible solutions that address social and environmental targets for clients around the world. The conversation will center on the role of the law and of lawyers in a rapidly changing landscape driven by impact enterprise and finance. \nFeatured Guest\nChintan PanchalA transformative figure and influencer since the early days of impact investing\, Chintan Panchal is recognized for his ability to use the levers of finance and law to create novel transaction frameworks that address some of the most pressing global challenges around the world. Chintan is a Founding Partner and head of the U.S. region at RPCK\, Rastegar Panchal\, a global boutique law firm that specializes in co-creating and facilitating the launch of scalable and investible solutions that address social and environmental targets. \nRPCK works closely with leading family offices and foundations\, high growth companies\, and investment funds around the globe and across a broad spectrum of industries on a range of capital investments that generate social and environmental impact alongside market rate\, risk-adjusted financial returns. \nChintan has helped architect a number of groundbreaking transactions for clients around the world that have become templates for the rest of the industry\, and is a recognized speaker at industry conferences around the country. \nHost\nLaurie Lane-ZuckerLaurie Lane-Zucker is Founder and CEO of Impact Entrepreneur\, PBC\, an impact economy business that hosts the Impact Entrepreneur Network — a large\, global network of “systems-minded” entrepreneurs\, investors\, and scholars of social and environmental innovation — and editor and publisher of Impact Entrepreneur\, a digital magazine covering the emerging Impact Economy. SUMMARY:21st Century Investing: Driving Systems Change

Building on this integration of sustainability factors\, it can now transition to a third stage that recognizes both the power of investments to impact social\, financial\, and environmental systems and the complexity of the times we live in. We call this system-level investing”. \nSystem-level investors believe that “it is time to support and enhance the health and stability of the social\, financial\, and environmental systems on which they depend for long-term returns. They preserve and strengthen these fundamental systems while still generating competitive or otherwise acceptable performance.” In this live virtual fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes William Burckart to discuss the context\, philosophy\, and practical implementations of systems-level investing. \nGuest\nWilliam BurckartWilliam Burckart is the President of The Investment Integration Project (TIIP)\, a consulting services and applied research firm that provides advice\, thought leadership and a turnkey solution to help investors manage systemic risks and opportunities.
