Selen Ucak a social impact professional working at the intersection of private sector and international development. She currently leads a global community of refugee-led and refugee-supporting businesses and social enterprises at the Refugee Investment Network (RIN), as well as serving as consultant on additional projects. Prior to RIN, she supported small businesses and job creation in Turkey and Jordan as Program Director, Middle East at Building Markets. Selen is the lead researcher and author of “Another Side to the Story: A Market Assessment of Syrian SMEs in Turkey” and “The Untapped Potential of Supplier Diversity in Turkey,” among other research in refugee entrepreneurship and inclusion. Previously, she served for eight years as Executive Director of The American Turkish Society, promoting bilateral economic and cultural relations. Her experience also includes social entrepreneurship, grant making, and economics research. Selen holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School as the first Tashman Fellow and a B.A. in Economics/International Affairs from Colorado College.
