About the Job

Join a dynamic family office managing a 100% impact and ESG-focused portfolio. As the Investment Partnerships Intern, you will play a pivotal role across our departments, connecting our Investments and Operations teams but also the broader network of partners (Membership groups, Foundations, Family offices, GPs, and other impact investing leaders). During the internship, collaborate closely with and serve as a thought partner to our Director of Partnerships.

A successful candidate will thrive in a cross-functional setting and be a quick learner who brings strategic and creative thinking, attention to detail, resourcefulness, the ability to implement and create deliverables, and excellent relationship-building skills. The individual should be passionate about being immersed in the impact investing ecosystem, gaining exposure to funders, investors, and partners in climate action and financial inclusion themes, and have enthusiasm for the value of strong partnerships.

1 – Ecosystem and Network Mapping

  • Lead Global Mapping Initiative: Oversee the end-to-end development of a comprehensive and visually navigable global map of existing relationships with investors, funders, portfolio companies and general partners (GPs).
  • Identify pipeline of new partners: Research and identify family offices, investors, and membership groups outside of current network in focus areas like climate, financial inclusion, mental health, and democracy-building across North America. Participate in introductory meetings with identified new partners.
  • Leverage tools and resources: Utilize internal knowledge resources, membership partners, and our Salesforce CRM system to design and implement this map.

2 – GP Relationship-building and Resource Development

  • Strategy development: Serve as a thought partner in the development of a long-term strategy and processes to strengthen BHI’s relationships with public and private General Partners (GPs) and companies within broader portfolio.
  • Standardize engagement tools: Develop an annual survey of our GPs to capture data on market and policy gaps where philanthropic or advocacy capital can make an impact. In addition, identify areas for value-add LP support and topics of interest for GP learning.
  • Develop resources and events: Support in the building of a potential toolkit/resource or webinar series to support areas of learning interest across the portfolio.

3 – Brand and Community Enhancement

  • Facilitate 1 in-person community event: Organize and participate in a BHI-hosted Jeffersonian dinner on investment themes such as policy-enhanced impact investing or mental health investment landscape to explore emerging opportunities.
  • Elevate Content Strategy: Gain experience with the newsletter content development process and assist the Partnerships Director in streamlining processes and planning forward-looking themes and topics for future newsletters. You can check out the Blue Haven Brief, editions one and two for context.
  • Promote Brand Presence: Opportunity to represent Blue Haven at an industry/impact investing conference to promote brand presence and new connections.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Multiple years of professional experience (consulting, impact investing, financial services, platform/community/Investor relations experience)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impact investment ecosystem
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proactive approach to driving projects forward balanced with a collaborative spirit
  • Humility and willingness to approach learning with a growth mindset
  • Passion for learning new tech systems and improving processes
