Position Focus:

The Program Manager for Programs and Operations for the Yale School of Management Program on Social Enterprise, Innovation, and Impact (PSEII) will contribute to the Program’s mission of developing and deploying management skills, tools, and perspectives for social and environmental impact. The Program achieves this mission by supporting scholarly research, developing both classroom and experiential social impact courses, supporting the development of teaching materials, and by creating and supporting student extracurricular engagements.

The Program Manager for Programs and Operations reports to the Faculty Director and Executive Director and collaborates with the Associate Director for External Engagements to develop and implement a variety of curricular and extracurricular programs. In particular, the school is currently undertaking an expansion of its Nonprofit Board Fellows Program and will be engaging in convenings with Nonprofit Board Fellows Programs on other campuses. The Program Manager for Programs and Operations collaborates with the Faculty Director, Executive Director, and Associate Director for External Engagements to establish infrastructure and processes to support this expanded program.

The Program Manager assists in creating, onboarding, and managing alumni advisory boards for the Nonprofit Board Fellows Program and other student initiatives. The Program Manager designs and establishes practices and protocols for student relationships with external partners. The Program Manager assists students in scoping projects and engagements, as well as oversees ongoing project work. This position partners with faculty in case-writing and other curricular development initiatives. The Program Manager will work with other School of Management departments to communicate Program achievements.

Essential Duties:

  1. Collaborate with faculty and other PSEII staff to design, launch, and manage new projects.
  2. Identify alumni and other mentors and develop structures to connect individual students and student groups to mentoring opportunities.
  3. Collaborate with Yale SOM Communications and other departments to inform internal and external stakeholders about PSEII achievements and activities.
  4. Coordinate student workers engaged in case-writing and other PSEII-supported activities.

Oversight of Nonprofit Board Fellows, Social Impact Consulting club, and other extracurricular practicum engagements.

  1. Develop a repository of training materials, training calendars, and assist student leaders in coordinating speakers for training.
  2. Share onboarding materials with new partner organizations and work with students and partners to scope engagements.
  3. Collaborate to recruit alumni advisory board.
  4. Collaborate to create memos of understanding with partners and with advisory board members. Meet with alumni partners and clients to review onboarding process and ensure the engagement is working on an ongoing basis.
  5. Work with students to effectively manage relationships with external partner organizations and alumni advisors. Coordinate with the Associate Director for External Engagements in identifying and recruiting prospective organization partners.
  6. Coordinate Yale’s participation in convenings with other universities’ NPBF programs.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  1. Ability to guide and support the build out of new programs.
  2. Detail-oriented and well-developed organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to work successfully in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  3. Proven ability to represent Yale SOM appropriately with internal and external constituencies.
  4. Deep commitment to and knowledge of both academia and the social sector.
  5. Proven commitment to diversity and inclusion, equity, and excellence.

Preferred:

Five years’ experience in project or program management. Track record of creating programs for a nonprofit entity or social enterprise. Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree in management or leadership.
