Sustainable Capital Advisors (SCA) is a financial consulting firm that assists public and private sector clients in developing business and financial solutions for the sustainable infrastructure sector. We are seeking a seasoned, talented, and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Vice President leading our Sustainable Finance practice group. You will participate in a range of activities including project management, business development efforts, and client engagement that will build on your analytical, interpersonal, creative thinking, business management, and leadership skills from day one. You will serve as a thought leader and advisor to the sustainable infrastructure finance ecosystem through SCA’s Sustainable Infrastructure Finance Academy (www.sifac.org). This role is ideal for a visionary leader who is committed to making a tangible impact on the planet’s future through strategic financial expertise, sustainable practices, and commitment to an equitable and resilient future.

WHAT WILL THIS JOB ENTAIL?

  • Spearhead innovative financing solutions for sustainable infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct thorough financial modeling and valuation of sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and ESG-focused projects and companies.
  • Advise on the financial structuring of projects to optimize environmental and community impact along with economic returns.
  • Support clients by preparing comprehensive credit memos and presentations for the credit committees, providing in-depth analysis of investment opportunities and associated risks.
  • Collaborate with the client’s team to assess the financial viability and environmental impact of potential investments in climate-related projects and companies.
  • Serve as a lead instructor and trainer on matters related to climate, clean energy, and sustainable infrastructure finance.
  • Cultivate partnerships with key stakeholders to advance the company’s sustainability agenda.
  • Represent the company at major climate and sustainability finance forums and meetings.
  • Oversee a talented team dedicated to identifying and executing high-impact investment opportunities.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government entities, private sector partners, and NGOs to advance inclusive climate finance goals.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, market dynamics, and regulatory developments in the climate finance, sustainable infrastructure, and renewable energy sectors.
  • Mentor the growth and development of team.

 QUALIFICATIONS

The SCA Team is seeking an entrepreneurial, ambitious, and resourceful individual who is comfortable in a lean and agile environment and has previous job experience in a similar dynamic setting. The ideal candidate must have a general knowledge and interest in the areas of finance, clean energy, or climate justice. In addition, a candidate should have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Sciences, Finance, Government, or related subject.
  • An advanced degree in Business Administration or Information Technologies. MBA preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, preferably in investment banking, lending, investment management, community development finance, or a similar role with a focus on climate finance or sustainable investments.
  • Expert knowledge of existing and new Federal funding programs, including CHIPS Act, Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Law, and Inflation Reduction Act (knowledge of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund is a significant plus)
  • Experience in underwriting and credit analysis.
  • Strong understanding of environmental risk factors and their implications on financial performance.
  • Knowledge of clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, carbon finance, and ESG with experience in community development finance a significant plus.
  • Knowledge of tax equity and debt structures used in the renewable space.
  • Mastery of financial management, transaction work, and financial modeling.
  • Mastery of Word, Excel, AND Advanced PowerPoint presentation skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to convey complex information and research in a concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple engagements simultaneously with competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based environment.
  • Ability to create an analysis, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a remote team environment.
  • Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, initiative, and an ability to face and innovatively manage issues in a mature and professional manner.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a full-time remote position, and all team members are required to keep DC office hours. The salary range is $145,000 – $175,000; commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance reimbursement, vacation stipend, potential for year-end bonus, 4 weeks of annual PTO, and year-round Summer Fridays.
