The AI Paradox: Powering Progress, Fueling Demand
Can artificial intelligence drive sustainability faster than it consumes the planet’s energy future?
Are you a Full Stack Engineer looking to make an impact at a mission-driven company? Do you thrive in high-autonomy environments? Do you crave a work culture that values your humanity above an arbitrary feature deadline?
Rootable helps grassroots organizations create a more just and less wasteful food system. It provides volunteer logistics software that supports organizations in local resource re/distribution while building collective power to leverage data, influence policy, and invest profits back into our communities. A social enterprise startup cooperatively owned by four Colorado food rescues, the platform centers relationships and local tech ecologies over continuous growth. We’re looking for our first engineering team hire, a full stack engineer to help turn our MVP into a fully-featured platform.
This role will make an impact and provides the opportunity to interact with nonprofits, mutual aid organizations, and activists organizing volunteers. We are looking for a passionate, user-centric full stack engineer that is excited about working on meaningful and complex technical problems that have a positive impact on our users’ lives. You’ll be employee #2.
Join a compassionate and purpose-driven community that value food and climate justice, joy, creativity and care work. Thrive in a flexible remote-friendly environment where caregivers and folks with passions outside their 9 to 5 are encouraged to show up as they are. Rootable is an ideal place for folks looking to experiment with non-traditional ways startup culture might function.
Rootable is incubating under Boulder Food Rescue, a trans-led 501c3 nonprofit. Boulder Food Rescue aims to create a more just and less wasteful food system. BFR facilitates the sustainable redistribution of healthy food that would otherwise be wasted to low-income communities, by bicycle. It works with communities to facilitate their own food redistribution and create decentralized systems to bypass barriers to food access. BFR’s work envisions a world in which everyone has equitable access to healthy food.
What sets Rootable apart is its people power. It is democratically owned and operated by nonprofits and profits go back to the communities that use it. This ownership model allows for a more relationship-based approach to feature development.
Compensation is determined by several factors, including but not limited to the level of professional experience, skills and specific candidate location. To honor our equitable pay system, all staff have access to everyone’s salary information.
Last day to submit applications: April 13th.
