Boann Social Impact launched in 2023 to support the growth of social finance and social impact investment in Canada. It is one of three wholesalers appointed by the Government of Canada to invest a portion of the $755 million Social Finance Fund. About this Role

The Impact Measurement and Management Specialist will work at the intersection of finance and social impact. This role is crucial in evaluating, measuring, monitoring, and enhancing the social/environmental impact performance of Boann’s investments and initiatives. The specialist will quantify, validate, analyze, and communicate the company’s impact to varied audiences including investors, collaborators, and stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Support the development of Boann’s data collection and management infrastructure, organizing data using established frameworks such as IRIS, GIIRS, UN SDG Impact Standards for Enterprise, the Five Dimensions of Impact, and custom impact metrics.
  • Analyze financial data alongside impact metrics to provide comprehensive insights into the performance and effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed impact reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy in conveying outcomes and achievements.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, partners, portfolio companies, and investors to gather data, develop and track impact metrics, and ensure alignment with impact goals.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to impact measurement methodologies and reporting processes to enhance transparency and accountability.

Requirements

  • Proficient in quantitative analysis and data interpretation, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Understanding of financial statements, investment metrics, and financial modeling relevant to impact investing and social finance.
  • Familiarity with impact measurement frameworks and methodologies, including experience in applying them to real-world scenarios.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating impact results and insights to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, engaging with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Meticulousness in data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and reliability of impact assessments.
  • 3+ years of experience in impact measurement, impact investing, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with impact investing systems (e.g., IRIS+) and best practices.
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, AirTable, R, Python, Power BI) and impact data software.
  • Passion for driving positive social change and a commitment to ethical investment practices.
  • Ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset.
