About the Systems Learning Team

Catalyst 2030 has transformed from its beginnings as a nimble, startup enterprise to a fast growing movement.

Catalyst 2030 offers employees the opportunity to work with young people from various countries and to challenge themselves within the context of a vibrant and growing organisation. The ideal candidate has graduated with a background in business, international development, social sciences, nonprofit management or a related field with ideally 2-4 years experience. The Systems Change Learning team stimulates an ongoing evolution of a learning ecosystem from and for social innovators. Our primary goal is to provide rich opportunities for shared learning and nurture communities of practice. to shift the dominant culture and paradigms and enable structural and systemic change. Our team works closely with social entrepreneurs and innovators along with government, civil society and academics.

With the complexity of systems change, the team brings together academics and social entrepreneurs to promote a sustainable culture of systems change, while advancing research, informing curricular offerings, and influencing practice, education, and policies. To learn how to achieve this change, the systems learning group develops a Systems Learning Series focusing on diverse topics, builds communities of educators through the Academic Hubs, prepares to launch the Catalyst Academy certification programme, influences and supports research in the field and curates knowledge and resources.

Scope of the work

The role supports the pillar of Catalyst 2030, to meet the growing needs of the Catalyst 2030 community. Besides coordinating the co-creation of learning opportunities for and by our members, the role strengthens the internal operations of the Systems Learning Team and its collaboration with other departments in the Secretariat.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:
Learning & Research

  • Lead the end-to-end co-design and delivery of learning offerings for our members, including the Learning Series, and Fundraising Masterclass.
  • Support the implementation of the Catalyst Academy, including developing the certification program, assisting with the development of content modules, identifying speakers and recruiting participants for the academy.
  • Assist with research, facilitate article publications, writing and editing of internal reports to amplify the systems change movement.

Partnerships and Communities

  • Identify and cultivate partnerships, build relationships and connect members with other members within the network.
  • Forge partnerships and nurture academic communities to enhance research, curate and expand knowledge and resources, and evolve educational pedagogy and practice.
  • Support the growth of academic hubs across different regions, including their structure, meetings, member engagement, and other ad hoc tasks.
  • Coordinate the General Assembly’s speakers, newsletter content related to systems change and social innovation learning opportunities.

Team Operations

  • Supervise and train three interns who rotate every six months to implement our system learning series, Academic Hubs, research projects and Catalyst Academy.
  • Coordinate the team’s monthly reporting and deliverable implementation tracking and provide inputs and updates to the departmental strategic plan and other documents.
  • Independently manage and support interns projects and ensure tasks remain on time.
  • Support weekly group meetings at different stages, from calendar planning and agenda setting to taking minutes and sending follow-up emails.
  • Contribute to the planning, organising and strategic engagement for members at conferences and events.
  • Update and maintain our section of the website, support the Social Change Innovators knowledge hub portal, and foster member engagement and collaborations.
  • Willingness to help out and be flexible when needed to accomplish objectives.
  • Attend other ad hoc tasks as assigned by the facilitator.

Qualifications and experience

As a member of the Systems Learning Team, the ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial thinker with a bias for action who can independently oversee project implementation. Understanding systems thinking, project management and research interests is essential. You are confident and proactive with 2-4+ years of professional experience. You operate with a service mindset – no task is too small for you. You lead by example.

The team member embodies the core values of Catalyst 2030, particularly in empowering diverse voices and communities. This role requires the ability to collaborate with key stakeholders in the Catalyst 2030 network including working groups, academics, and social entrepreneurs to achieve common goals. This role will report to the Systems Learning facilitator.

  • An active interest in global issues and challenges, their complexity and nuances
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, global environment and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and across time zones, and a willingness to learn from experience
  • Ability to manage time effectively and to adapt to changing environments
  • Desire to work collaboratively, with a positive attitude and ability to rise to challenges
  • Fluency in English and another language (Spanish, French, Portuguese or Arabic), other languages would be an asset e.g. Russian, Chinese etc. a plus
  • Minimal bachelor’s degree in business, international relations, development, social sciences, nonprofit management or a related field.
  • In its absence, relevant professional experience for 2-4 years is required.
  • Some managerial experience is preferable though not essential.
  • Technically savvy and able to learn to coordinate between several technology tools and platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, Google docs, Salesforce (preferred).
  • A commitment to empowering the diverse communities served by Catalyst 2030.
  • Hands-on attitude, flexibility and ability to adapt to new tasks and a willingness to help out when required.

Job location

This position is remote and can be carried out from most regions that have 4-6 hours overlap with CET working hours.
