About this Role

The Community Development Lending (CDL) intern will provide support for community engagement and loan origination activities within key sectors including affordable housing, healthcare, education, healthy food, aging, and cooperatives. This role is designed for individuals passionate about community and economic development, impact investing, racial equity, and social justice. The internship, which remains open until a suitable candidate is found, is full-time and spans from June 2, 2025, to August 29, 2025. This remote position primarily supports CDL’s community outreach, engagement, and marketing efforts. Key responsibilities include maintaining and tracking relationships with existing and potential customers, managing and optimizing initiatives that foster community relationships through the Salesforce platform, and supporting Capital Impact Partners’ lending activities and place-based strategy in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and nationwide.

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with deal teams regarding business development strategy, including identifying potential prospects.
  • Conduct client and prospect research to support business development efforts.
  • Identify relevant events, conferences, and professional affiliation groups.
  • Compile and maintain a list of key events and networks for partnerships and community engagement.
  • Create standardized email templates for customer engagement.
  • Maintain the New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) application pipeline.
  • Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining Salesforce contact and event records.
  • Create standard operating procedures for the Salesforce Event Tracking form.
  • Assist with providing training and support to internal users on Salesforce.

 

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated commitment to local communities.
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and learning.
  • Familiarity with financial documents (balance sheets, profit and loss statements).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or CRM platforms is a plus.
