A writer and analyst with a focus on conflict-affected communities, Aiya Soueidan is a BA International Relations student at King’s College London’s Department of War Studies. Raised in Abu Dhabi with Lebanese heritage, her work is grounded in a regional focus on the Middle East and a commitment to making complex humanitarian and economic realities accessible to both readers and practitioners.

Aiya is passionate about the intersection of post-conflict recovery and institutional fragility. During the 2024 war, she volunteered with the Lebanese Food Bank in Beirut, gaining exposure to NGO operations and humanitarian response in an active conflict setting. She has completed the Thomson Foundation’s professional course in responsible journalism in conflict settings and participated in the Harvard Model Congress Leadership Program. Aiya wrote this article as part of a journalism internship with Bizgees for their A4R Media Hub.
