Doug Singer is a Partner and Chair of the Social Enterprise and Impact Investing Practice Group at Falcon Rappaport & Berkman LLP.

For many years, Doug has advised purpose-driven companies on how to align their legal structures, governance practices, and long-term planning with their missions and values. His work has included assisting companies in becoming benefit corporations or benefit limited liability companies, defining their social impacts, drafting contract provisions and policies reflecting those social impacts, and navigating the legal and governance requirements included in the B Corporation certification assessment. He was the co-founder of the first law firm in New Jersey and the second in New York to be a Certified B Corporation.

Doug’s work also includes, and he has a particular interest in, perpetual purpose and employee ownership trusts. Drawing on his experience in corporate law and trusts and estates, Doug advises business owners on strategies for perpetuating both their companies and the values that define them.

He has written extensively about embedding purpose in privately-owned and family-owned companies and has presented on related topics. In addition to his law practice, he is an experienced board director. Doug has an AVⓇ Peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell and was named to the 2025 Westchester County Power 100 by City & State Magazine.
