Can the New SDG Standard Change Business Decisions?
Whose evidence counts
Announcement from CataCap, October 29, 2026
The People Planet Purpose Fund, a multi-donor fund created by the Investors Circle angel investing network and hosted on the CataCap platform, has made its first investment, $25,000 in it’s electric. The Brooklyn-born company, co-founded by Tiya Gordon and Nathan King, builds curbside electric vehicle charging for cities. Its chargers draw on the untapped electricity supply of the property owners it partners with, who earn passive income in return.
The City of New York recently selected it’s electric to build out the city’s permanent curbside charging network across all five boroughs, according to the announcement. Over the next three years the company will replace the city’s pilot chargers and install hundreds of new ones of its own design, manufactured at Boyce Technologies in Queens.
Donors decide together where the fund invests, with one vote each regardless of how much they have given. A diligence group of Investors Circle community members, or one of the network’s community partners, researches each proposed investment, and the fund’s Donor Investment Committee reviews it before putting it to the donors. A recommendation needs a two-thirds supermajority of the votes cast. The committee then makes a final review, and CataCap carries out its own independent compliance review before it makes and holds the investment on the fund’s behalf.
The fund’s investment in it’s electric followed that path. Investors Circle members had already invested in the company as angel investors and had followed it for more than two years, the announcement says.
“It brings together people who care about where their money goes, gives them a voice in the investment process, and creates a way to move capital toward companies working on solutions that matter,” said Babbie Jacobs, Vice Chair of Investors Circle and a member of the fund’s Donor Investment Committee.
Angel investing is generally limited to accredited investors. The fund, which takes charitable donations, is open to any donor, accredited or not, its organizers say. When the fund exits an investment, any proceeds will go back to donors’ accounts on the CataCap platform, where they can be recycled into new impact investments. The fund is evergreen and designed to invest on a rolling basis.
“The People Planet Purpose Fund is about opening the door to a different relationship with philanthropic capital,” said Ken Kurtzig, Co-Founder of CataCap.
Investors Circle, a Vermont 501(c)(3) nonprofit impact investing network, launched the fund in 2026. Since 1992, the network says, its community has deployed more than $275 million into more than 350 early-stage ventures.
