Beyond Investment Readiness
How collateral rules and payment terms keep impact capital out of reach
News shared with Impact Entrepreneur by Erin Breslawski of Big Path Capital
Enable Ventures announced on September 29, 2026, that it had held the final close of its first fund at $50.31 million. It invests in early-stage, AI-driven companies in worktech, digital health and assistive technology, and describes itself as the first market-rate venture fund dedicated to closing the disability wealth gap.
Regina “Gina” Kline, a civil rights lawyer, launched Enable Ventures in June 2022 with Jim Sorenson, founder and executive chairman of the Sorenson Impact Group. Kline is founder and managing partner of the fund’s manager, Enable Ventures Management, LLC, and Enable Ventures is part of the Sorenson Impact Platform of Funds. On October 27, 2022, she joined Laurie Lane-Zucker for an Impact Entrepreneur Luminarias fireside chat on investing at the intersection of disability and technology.
The fund’s limited partners include UnitedHealth Group, Liberty Mutual Investments, the Ford Foundation, Ally Bank, SHRM, Ascension, Britebound, Weingart Foundation, Social Finance, The Doctors Company, Next50 and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation.
Enable Ventures works from the premise that designing for disability opens new ground for artificial intelligence. Its capital goes to four areas: startups that upskill and reskill underrepresented workers, workplace technology that helps people with disabilities get and keep good jobs, founders whose own experience of disability shapes what they design, and next-generation assistive technology that pairs AI with advanced software and hardware.
The 11 companies it has backed so far are Be My Eyes, Kalogon, Cionic, Goodpath, Ava, Daivergent, DeepWalk, Inclusively, Mindset Care, Pear Suite and Wheel the World. Be My Eyes combines live video with generative AI to tell blind and low-vision users what is around them. DeepWalk inspects sidewalks and curb ramps with a mobile phone’s LiDAR scanner, and municipalities use it to automate accessibility compliance.
Kline argues that products like these work better because they are “designed from the outset with the disability community at the center.”
