Village Capital Releases 2024 Impact Report

A Year of Cultivating Thriving Ecosystems

Washington, DC (February 6, 2025) – Village Capital released its 2024 Impact Report, offering a comprehensive look at how impact-creating startups are tackling the world’s most pressing issues and the crucial role of robust ecosystems in enabling entrepreneurs to overcome barriers, scale their impact, and drive meaningful change.

The report draws a compelling parallel between nature’s resilience and sustainable impact innovation, emphasizing the importance of long-term, regenerative approaches over short-term growth strategies.

“True resilience lies in building strong, lasting foundations,” shared Allie Burns, CEO at Village Capital. “Like the oak tree which anchors itself with an extensive network of roots, we stay grounded in our mission while expanding into new spaces to build a stronger, impact-driven ecosystem. At Village Capital, we are proud to be part of the growing chorus of ecosystem builders looking beyond the “growth-at-all-costs” mentality toward a vision rooted in nature’s steadier, more sustainable rhythms.

The 2024 Impact Report highlights key insights and data from Village Capital’s work over the past year, featuring:

  • Expanding Our Roots: Just as strong root systems anchor and nourish thriving forests, Village Capital continues to deepen the networks that sustain entrepreneurial growth. In 2024, the organization supported over 110 entrepreneurs, bringing its total direct reach to nearly 1,800 entrepreneurs globally since 2009. Alumni companies completed over 300 deals, raising USD 931M. Additionally, the nonprofit trained 14 Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs), increasing the total to 230 supported ESOs and further strengthening local innovation ecosystems worldwide.
  • Blossoming Through Community-Led Growth: Much like plants thrive in the right environment, startups and ESOs flourish when they are deeply connected to the communities they serve and receive the tailored support they need. The report features stories and case studies from alumni driving positive change – such as climate-resilient farming in Africa and waste-reduction innovations in Latin America. These entrepreneurs leverage local insights to develop scalable, high-impact solutions, empowered by peer due diligence and grant funding that support their growth.
  • Tending the Garden: Collaboration remains at the heart of Village Capital’s mission. By cultivating robust ecosystems, the organization partners with mentors, founders, and global organizations to address systemic barriers and create pathways for all entrepreneurs to scale their impact.
